About Australia

It is one of the 14 independent nations that make up the continent of Oceania and is the sixth largest country in the world. It has among its main treasures the Great Barrier Reef, known worldwide for being the most extensive coral reef you know. Its total amplitude is over 2000 miles. Australia has a width ranging between 100 and 300 km, forming a large number of islands with numerous attractions such as surfing and bathing with dolphins in their natural habitat.

The northern part of the country has a tropical climate and generates rain forest, forests, meadows, mangroves and deserts. Land that incites excursions, exploration and adventure discovering its varied fauna. The most well known autochthonous animal species include platypus and marsupials. These include several species of kangaroos, the koala and the Tasmanian demon.

In terms of culture, the country has an active tradition of music, ballet and theatre. There is an orchestra in each capital city and a National opera company. Australia’s music includes classical music, jazz and many other popular music genres.

Australian cuisine is a mixture of Aboriginal dishes and customs brought by its colonizers. Meats and fish are basic ingredients. The typical Australian dish par excellence is the meatloaf.
